My Favorite Item of the Week---Coated Denim

Coated Pants-Paige Denim---- Bloomingdale's

Blazer--Nordstrom
Shoes--Converse
Sunglasses--Prada--Bloomingdale's

Hi guys.  I decided to start writing a post once a week about my favorite item of that week--The piece that I could not stop obsessing about most. This week it was the coated denim pant (jeans or leggings).

Coated denim pants are really popular right now, but many ladies have told me how intimated they are by this trend. I suggest to invest in a great pair of black coated jeans or leggings. They look like they are leather, but instead are pants covered with a special coated layer on top. These pants are so hip and modern. When you choose a trendy piece like this, try to pair them with clothing that is more classic. I usually wear my coated pants at night with a fun, more flowy top and some great heels. For today's post I felt like changing it up and showing you all how to wear this look during the day.

For a daytime look, I paired these black coated denim pants with a rocker chic tshirt (featuring one of my favorite 90's bands, Nirvana), and added a simple black blazer and black converse tennis shoes. This look is so comfortable and easy to wear during the day while running errands and picking up my kids.   I am on the go everday just like all of you.  So why not look cute doing your daily activities? Investing in a pair of these coated denim pants is the perfect way to update your wardrobe and have some fun. And P.S. I am loving these Prada sunglasses. They always make me smile on sunny days. Try this look and let me know what you think.  Happy reading.

Cathy's 40th Birthday

Evelyne's outfit--
Pants--Nightcap
Shirt--Lush
Necklace--Twisted Silver
Shoes-- Jimmy Choo

Hi guys. My amazing friend Cathy is turning the big 40. Cathy is one of my dearest and most special friends. She is an amazing listener, dinner partner and traveling companion. Cathy always knows the right thing to say at the right time. I'm so lucky to have her in my life. Her life is so hectic all the time--She has FIVE kids and is such a busy mom driving to hockey, dance, the beach and the list goes on and on. The one thing about Cathy is no matter how busy her life is, she always looks hip and stylish.

For her upcoming birthday my friend Kim, Cathy's hubby Michael and I threw her a surprise party. She was so pleasantly shocked by all the family and friends that came to celebrate her. Cathy does so much for others and it was time to celebrate her. It was a blast.

Cathy wore a white dress with black trim and classic black booties. I loved this look. And she, along with all the guests looked fabulous. I really appreciated how everyone took their time to look their very best. It's hard sometimes as moms to put yourself together for a fun night out. Everyone looked amazing.

I decided to wear these unique open slit pants from Nightcap. I'm obsessed with this line. Their style is so original. I paired these pants with a basic black shirt and some classic Jimmy Choo classic heels. I was also so lucky that day to see my hairstylist ( and one of my best friends) Rita, who styled my hair in this faux bob. I absolutely LOVED it. It was almost like an accessory that went with the outfit. This funky new faux bob changed my whole look.  Have you ever tried a new hair look to complete your outfit? Let me know what you think. Happy Birthday Cathy! Love you!

Ellen Show

Jessica's jacket-- Nordstrom
Evelyne's jeans--Joe's
Evelyne's blazer--Nordstrom
Evelyne's Boots-- Bloomingdales
Evelyne's shirt-Joie

Hi guys. My best friend Jessica took me to see the Ellen show being taped yesterday. We were VIP's all the way--We saw Portia de Rossi, sat in the second row, got free goodie bags and gift cards. It was the best day.

Jessica has been my BFF for over 20 years. We both grew up in Los Angeles in the valley and now both live in Newport Beach. Since I am an only child she is like a sister to me. Jessica is the person I share everything with--good times (like girls trips and fun nights out) or hard times when I need her the most. She is always someone I can lean on and I love her so much.

Jessica and I thought long and hard about what to wear to Ellen. We knew that we might be on television so we had to look our absolute best. Jessica chose this amazing coat that I'm obsessed with by Chelsea28 that can be found at Nordstrom, and paired it with classic black pants. She looked fabulous.

I chose to wear dark skinny jeans (Joe's are my favorite) with a leopard print top ( I'm obsessed with this one by Joie), my staple black blazer and favorite tall boots. It's easy to add a little bit of fun to an overall classic outfit by adding some leopard print. Try some in your wardrobe-- Whether it's in a top, a scarf or some heels, give it a try. Let me know what you think. And P.S I just love Justin Timberlake and we had to get a picture of him with Ellen. Couldn't leave the studio without that last snapshot of the day. Thanks for reading!!

Valentine Day Part 1

blazer/ Nordstrom

Hi guys. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you. I just love Valentine's Day--Everything about it--the candy, the cards, the colors red and pink. It just makes me smile. Valentine's Day is all about love....The love I have for my husband, the love I have for my kids, and the love I have for my girlfriends. My girlfriends are so important to me. They are there for all the happy times, as well as times I need them the most.

The girls, Cathy, Jessica, Julie M and Julie D, and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day with a fun lunch. We all decided to wear red and pink to be festive.

I decided to wear a bright and fun pink blazer to keep with our pink and red theme. A pop of a bright color is definitely something to try in your wardrobe. A blazer is a more conservative way to try a pop of color. Just remember to keep everything else basic, like pairing a bright colored blazer with a simple black tank top, skinny jeans and some classic boots. Hope you all try and give a pop of color a chance and let me know what you think. Happy Valentine's Day and stay tuned for my date night post  coming up tomorrow.

Hollywood Party

I am lucky enough to have a sister-in-law, Debbie, who is so special to me. She is my husband Jeff's sister and because I am an only child, I appreciate what a good friend she is to me and how great she is with my boys. Debbie also happens to do a little work in Hollywood from time to time. Jeff and I have gone to some AMAZING parties with her in the past. She actually just took us to one a few weeks ago. I can't go into details, it was very hush hush. It was at a hot hotel on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles. What does a girl wear to a party like this? This is an ongoing struggle. You don't want to overdo it or show up in jeans and a tshirt. You want to look like you fit in.
Well this is what I decided on. A great sequin dress, with a blazer over it, and my classic wedge booties. I love this look. Not only for this Hollywood party, but for any party, or funky fun night out. A great sequin/beaded dress can be so fun and adding a blazer over any cocktail dress just makes it edgy and less dressy. I also suggest to try booties, my current obsession are these Chanel booties I'm wearing here. Trying any bootie can be a modern alternative to a heel. I was so happy with how this outfit turned out and I had the most handsome date there! I'm a lucky girl.
